Service cut down by one-third in five years; villagers submit memo seeking solution
Udaipur, October 24, 2024 – Travellers to Jhadol-Phalasiya are facing difficulties because of gradual reduction in bus services on this route. Where around five years ago nearly 15 State Roadways buses were plying on this route, today that number has come down drastically to only five.
Prior to the pandemic, buses used to be available every one-to-two hours the whole day round. But now, if a passenger misses one bus, he or she may have to wait 4-to-5 hours before the next one is available. Option then rests on private buses and jeep operators which are more challenging because of their exorbitant fares. Plus, shortage of buses leads to overcrowding with no seats being available for the elderly.
The first bus leaves Udaipur for Phalasiya at 7:30 am after which the next bus is only at 12:30 pm. Similarly, from Phalasiya, the first bus to Udaipur is at 10:30 am and the next bus is available at 3:15 pm. Previously, buses used to run every one to one-and-a-half hours.
Local residents have submitted a memorandum to the MP and other representatives regarding this issue, but a solution is still awaited.
