This is not the first time that J&J has landed in a lawsuit.

The company's talc products were also in question long back.

Johnson & Johnson has been a regular household product with products for infants loved everywhere. From baby soaps, oils and talcum powders to ear buds, the name is recognised by everyone.

Some time back, the company faced lawsuits related to its talc products. As a result many people had stopped using the talcum powders. Now it is the sunscreens that have been considered inappropriate or use. As per reports, 2 of the company’s sunscreens have cancer causing chemicals in them.

A 2020 study by scientists at the FDA, which also regulates sunscreens as cosmetic products, found that some sunscreen ingredients are absorbed into the bloodstream and should be tested to see if they are safe. It proposed a rule that requires sunscreen makers to provide additional information on the active ingredients in their products.

The company voluntarily recalled five Neutrogena and Aveeno brand aerosol sunscreens on Wednesday. It also advised consumers to stop using the products and discard them as internal testing found low levels of benzene in some sprays. Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen, a substance that could potentially cause cancer depending on the level and extent of exposure. The recalled aerosol sunscreens are Neutrogena Beach Defense, Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport, Neutrogena Invisible Daily defense, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, and Aveeno Protect + Refresh.
