Journalist attacked by Leopard at Dungarpur

A local journalist got severely injured after he was attacked by a leopard here at Chorasi area of Dungarpur distrist on Sunday.

It was when a young leopard was eating a Neelgaye (Antelope ) being hunted by him at the Gadiya Badar Metwala village of Chorasi area of Dungarpur distrist. Soon a huge of villagers gathered at the spot after seeing the ferocious animal at their village, soon a local journalist Gunwant Kalal also reached at the village for coverage. But while he was filming the animal in his mobile phone suddenly turned towards him attacked him. He caught one of his leg in his  mouth.But when Kalal kicked him on his face he left his leg and took one of his hand in his mouth.

However the struggle between them continued for several minutes after which the villagers somehow overpowered him and tied him with a rope.

The injured Gunwant Kalal said" On Sunday morning i got a call from a social worker Vinod Katara that a leopard has came at the village, it was sitting under the bushes and was eating the flash of a Neelgaye being hunted by him. Upon getting the information i went to the village for the media coverage.Large number of villagers also gathered on the scene. Seeing the crowd the leopard tried to escape and moved towards the hillock, i moved behind him. But instead of moving ahead he suddenly turned back and attacked me. After a long struggle with him i somehow managed to control him, later the local police and villagers tied the animal with a rope".

Later the officials of the forest department were called on the scene and took the animal away from the scene. On the other hand the injured journalist Gunwant Kalal was also rushed to the hospital for treatment.
