The ‘JSG Blood Donation Helpline’ was inaugurated on 1^st April, 2012 jointly by all eight social Jain groups in town. The ‘Blood Helpline’ is to promote awareness and to serve the one in need of blood in the case of emergency. It is an On-Call-On-Demand service.

The ‘JSG Blood Donation Helpline’ would serve as a bridge between the person in need of blood and the donor. They would be maintaining a database of the Donors based on blood group, etc. then the donor will receive a call if his/her blood is needed in any situation. This service is free of cost.

“On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti on 5^th April, 2012; member ship forms and an oath letter would be signed by the Jain community at Fateh Senior Secondary School attending the event of Swami Vatsalya. We are targeting 5000 members initially, and the helpline soon would be available for people” says Ramesh Mehta, Operation Head and coordinator, Blood Helpline.

Whenever a blood group would be needed, the hospital authorities would provide the same to the person; and later on the member registered in the database with that same blood group will donate the blood to the blood bank in the hospital.

The inauguration of the helpline was done by Hemant Jain, Upper District and Session Judge in the main-hall of Vasu Pujya Mandir, Jinndatt Suri Resthouse, Mewar Motors Lane, Udaipur. 700 couples participated in the inauguration, whereas 200 of them signed the membership.
