Judge Bhati disassociates himself from Laxmi Vilas case

-Laxmi Vilas case could not be heard in Rajasthan High Court on 19th October.

-The Chief Justice to decide the judge's bench for the case now.

The Hotel Laxmi Vilas disinvestment case could not be heard in Rajasthan High Court on 19th October, Monday. Reportedly Judge Bhati refused to hear the case and disassociated himself from the much talked about case giving personal reasons.

The next hearing of the case is on 21st October and now the Chief Justice will decide as to which judge's bench will be heard. Those associated with this case are former Union Minister Arun Shourie, Jyotsna Suri, former IAS officer Pradeep Baijal, Kantilal and Ashish Guha and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels ltd.. Appearing on behalf of these people are well known lawyers like Harish Salve and Prashant Bhushan and some more. The hearing was adjourned after the disassociation of Judge PS Bhati.

It may be noted that the CBI court had refused to accept the CBI closure report taking cognizance on 15th September 2020.  There was a stir when the arrest warrants were summoned. The Collector of Udaipur took the hotel in possession as per the court's order and the verification of the property began and is still going on.

The case was then challenged in High Court by everyone associated with the case and the non-bailable warrants were then turned into bailble warrants. All eyes are now on the hearing that will take place on 21st October.
