Kavadiyas to walk till Ubeshwarji, to please Rain God

two thousand devotees will walk for 23 km tomorrow on August 4; 2011.The walk will start from Gang Kund, Mahasatiya Ayad at 8:30am and will conclude at temple of Ubeshwar – famously known as Ubeshwarji Maharaj.

 

To beseech the rain god to shower his mercy on the city, more than two thousand devotees will walk for 23 km tomorrow on August 4; 2011.The walk will start from Gang Kund, Mahasatiya Ayad at 8:30am and will conclude at temple of Ubeshwar – famously known as Ubeshwarji Maharaj.

The organizing body of this event is Shiva Mahotsav Samiti and is looking forward and prepared for tomorrow’s big event.

Yagya Narayan Sharma – secretary- Shiva Mahotsav Samiti said “a total of 2001 devotees which also includes 501 female devotees will walk for 23 km from Udaipur to Ubeshwar. We strongly believe that the more we will sacrifice for the cause of God Almighty; he bestows us with double of his mercy.”

Kavadiyas (devotees) will begin their walk holding a stick tied with water pots on both the ends, after reaching Ubeshwar, they will offer the pot water to the idol and pray for the rain in Udaipur.

Yagya Narayan Sharma also said “good rain naturally brings prosperity and harmony between everyone”.

This event was first started in the year 2006 and since then it is being continued every year in the rainy season.

Since the arrival of Monsoon in Rajasthan this year, Udaipur region, has yet not received ample amount of rain which is very much needed for agriculture and also for tourism in Udaipur.
