CM Vasundhara Raje-led BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) government in Rajasthan presented the budget today and caused mobile phones, two-wheeler and taxi services to cost more.

Udaipur is set to benefit from this budget after a few sops and initiatives were announced for the City of Lakes, a few of them being:

  • Rs. 14 Crore Indoor Stadium proposed in Udaipur District
  • 127 Acre Dedicated Land Allocated in Kaladvas for development of IT and Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing.
  • Rs. 5 Crore Allocated for construction of Sub-Regional Science Center (Vigyan Kendra) at Udaipur, on the lines of such centers in Jaipur and Jodhpur.
  • 3 Special Courts under the Negotiable Instruments Act to be set up in Udaipur to hear out and settle Cheque Dishonor cases.
  • Rs. 60 Lakh allocated towards the construction of Deputy Registrar Office in Mavli.
  • Proposal for Development of Jaisamand Lake.
  • 400KV Sub-Station Grid to be setup in Udaipur; work to be initiated for a new 400KV Line between Udaipur and Jodhpur.
  • LED Lights to be installed in Public areas and Tourist Places in Udaipur over the next three years.
  • Existing Production Centers in Udaipur to be upgraded and promoted as regular ITI Centers.
  • 500 Skilled Workers to be trained by RIICO in association with Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Khurja
  • Rs. 9 Crore allocated for the construction of Underground Parking in Super Specialty Wing.
  • DPR for renovation of Dams in Udaipur to be initiated.
  • Conservation of Lakes of the city.
  • Installation of Seed Testing laboratory.
  • Regional Science Center worth Rs. 5 Cr.
  • 4 Tribal Hostels in Tribal areas of Udaipur, Banswara, Dungerpur and Abu Road to be converted to Sports Hostels for Girls.  Trainers will be allotted to these Hostels
Few other highlights of the Budget 2015-16 are as follows:
  • 14 items with no entry tax including tin plate, coffee, cocoa, hand pumps, AC pressure pipes, salt, gun powder, wireless reception instruments, photographic film, gangsaw, Batasa, Mishree, Makhana, sugar toys, ice cream, marble cutting tool, diamond bits and radio sets.
  • CM who also holds finance portfolio projected an estimated Revenue Surplus of Rs. 556.82 Cr for 2015-16.
  • VAT on mobile phones and its accessories increased from 5 to 8% while on other items the same is increased from 14 to 14.5%.
  • All marriage gardens brought under Luxury Tax.
  • Items exempted from VAT such as Pooja Hawan samagri, Patthar ki Chokhat, jute rope, mosquito net, bird net, marble items, intro-ocular lens for cataract.
  • The tourism, art and culture sector got Rs. 244.46 Cr. She allocated Rs. 38 Cr for campaign on tourism promotion, Rs. 35 Cr to development of tourist destinations and Rs. 20 Cr for development of museums and panoramas.
  • Allocation of Rs. 900 Cr for road development.
  • Adani group will install 26000 Megawatt of Solar plant.
