The railway underpass at Kumharon ka bhatta-Mali colony road is to be widened for 2-way purposes. The process began on Tuesday evening.

Once the railway underpass work is done, it will be a relief as it would reduce the chances of traffic jam in this area. The process is in collaboration with UIT and railways will establish a pre-cost box cell and construct another underpass which will be 5 metres wide and 5.5 metres high.

The construction work will commence by Thursday night. All relevant machinery has reached the site. For security reasons, rail service will be stopped on this line for some time. The budget estimate given by railways for this work is around 1 crore 93 lakh rupees.

As per reports, UIT has already paid 1 crores for the project and the balance will be paid once the project is completed. It may be noted that the road was widened at 60 feet by UIT after which the pressure of traffic had increased. Since the railway underpass is merely 5 feet wide as of now, traffic jams are a common issue here.
