Here is a lesson for those students who put the blame of scoring less marks on the lack of resources for there are students who had nothing, yet who achieve the seemingly impossible.

Jalam Chand Pargi, a resident of the village of Kotra located approximately 90 km away from Udaipur, has secured the 9th position in the RBSE Class XII Board Examination in the Arts Stream. The 18-year old student of Government Middle School, Jhadol had secured an overall percentage of 81.60 % in the subjects of Geography, Hindi Literature and Economics.

It is not difficult to see how he has faced the odds stacked against him and achieved this marvelous feat.

The son of a farmer, Pargi himself works as a daily wage laborer in order to support his family’s financial condition. Despite being a student of RBSE, Pargi was forced to study under the CBSE examination pattern in accordance with Rajasthan government’s new policy.

Despite this, the student was able to motivate himself without any form of tuitions or external guidance and overcame all hardships to secure such a prestigious rank.

Pargi’s achievements are not limited to his academics. He has also represented Udaipur district at the state level in handball. He also enjoys playing cricket and volleyball. When asked about his future prospects, Pargi mentioned that he would appear for the Civil Services Examination after his graduation.
