To recognize the extra ordinary work in the field of journalism, an award function ‘Late Captain Durgaprasad Choudhary Journalism Award’ was organized today at the R.N.T. Medical College auditorium.

Deepak Shrimal (Banswara) was awarded first prize, whereas, Keshav Pathik (Kapasan), Sudarshan Singh Bhati (Udaipur), Lokendra Singh (Devgarh), Harish Kumar Pandya (Seemalwada) and Rajkumar Kothari (Dhariyawad) received cash awards, memento and certificates for their work.
L.L. Sharma, Chief Reporter of Dainik Navjyoti (Jaipur) informed that this award function started from 1996 to recognize the dedication and achievement of journalists.
Dr. Girija Vyas, Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation was the chief guest of the event along with Raghuveer Singh Meena, MP and Sajjan Katara, MLA, RAJNI Dangi, Mayor and Roop Kumar Khurana, UIT Chairman.
While addressing the audience, Dr. Girija Vyas talked about ethics of journalism and characteristics of journalists which should equally benefit society and the nation.
She said, “Journalism is required to develop democratic value, social and communal harmony in the country.”
She also stated, “in the present scenario, where world is changing at such a fast pace, definition of media has also changed to a great extent, media has broadened. Thus, it is important for media to generate messages and information full of truth and loaded with the perspective of humanity.”
