Forest Department teams search Oswal Nagar area but the leopard remains elusive; residents told to remain alert
Udaipur, June 6, 2025 - A wave of panic swept through Oswal Nagar in Sundarwas, located in the northern part of the city, this morning after reports emerged of a leopard spotted near an abandoned factory. Upon receiving the information, the Forest Department team rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation, but no trace of the animal was found.
According to local residents, a person spotted the leopard near the factory around 6:30 am and immediately informed the Forest Department. However, the team arrived at the scene around 8:00 am - about an hour and a half later - by which time the leopard had already left the area.
While the animal itself was not found, pugmarks were discovered at the scene, confirming that a leopard had indeed been there. The Forest Department conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area but is yet to locate the animal.
The news of the leopard's presence has left residents alarmed. Locals have urged the Forest Department to urgently track the animal's location and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of people living in the area.
Residents also expressed concern that had the Forest Department arrived on time, it might have been possible to capture the lepoard. As no further sightings or updates have been reported, an atmosphere of fear still prevails in the neighbourhood.
Forest officials said that the search for the leopard is ongoing and that teams are patrolling the area. Residents have been advised to remain alert and to immediately report any sightings of the leopard to the authorities.
