Leopard movement around the city has increased in recent days; Badgaon, Balicha and Parshuram Colony residents alarmed by leopard prowling around
Udaipur, January 18, 2025 - Movement of leopards in the surrounding region of the city has started to increase in recent days with one spotted in Badgaon district late on January 16 night. The leopard's movement was captured on CCTV camera of the Shree Complex Colony in Badgaon.
Around midnight, residents heard loud barking of dogs and thought thieves were moving around in the area alerting the dogs However, when a resident checked the CCTV footage, a leopard was seen prowling around in the colony. This has instilled fear within the colony dwellers.
It may be recalled that a leopard was spotted in Balicha around five days ago whereas one has been frequenting Parshuram Colony in Neemuch Kheda since the last one year. Residents of Parshuram Colony are living in perpetual fear as the animal is often seen in the neighbourhood.
Recently, on January 6 an attempt was made to trap the leopard by setting up a cage by the boundary wall of the forest. However, the animal was seen entering the cage and then rushing out and escaping over the boundary wall into the thicket.
Those living in the area have been asking that the boundary wall be either raised or barbed wire be installed over the wall to prevent the animal from entering the residential area.
