New Year Alcohol Party

Udaipur, December 7,2024 - The Excise Department has started the process for issuing occasional licenses to serve alcohol at home or in gardens for New Year celebrations. Applications can be submitted online easily.

Home and Commercial Venues

The license fee for hosting a party at home is Rs 2,000/-. For commercial venues like gardens and halls, the fee is Rs 12,000/-. Commercial venues also need to pay a one-time registration fee of Rs 20,000/-. For future events at the same venue, only the Rs 12,000/- occasional license fee will apply.

Action Against Unlicensed Parties

To stop illegal liquor sales during New Year, the Excise Department forms monitoring teams based on police circles. Strict action will be taken against those hosting parties without an occasional license.

Holograms to Identify Illegal Liquor

The Excise Commissioner has ordered steps to monitor alcohol served at New Year parties. Some licensed parties serve liquor from other states, which is illegal. Under the Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950, those selling illegal liquor can face up to three years in jail.

Udaipur's Hotels and Licenses

In Udaipur city, 137 hotels, resorts, bars, and clubs have bar licenses. Across the district, there are 811 such establishments. Each year, around 150 occasional licenses are issued in the district, and 60 of these are for home parties.

Villa and Commercial Party Trends

Villa parties are becoming popular in Udaipur. Licenses allow alcohol to be served at such private events without police or Excise Department interference.
Around 70 to 80 hotels and gardens in the city are also expected to host New Year parties. These venues typically obtain commercial licenses.

To identify illegal liquor, holograms will be placed on bottles. This will help detect alcohol from outside Rajasthan.
