Lightning struck the metre room at Solar observatory on Thursday night. It was raining on Thursday night and an explosion was heard in Solar observatory in Fatehsagar Lake. The metre room was struck as a result of which the metre box got destroyed, glass windows were shattered and the doors also got damaged. Plastic chairs went in pieces. As informed by Deputy Head technical Shibu Mathew the metre room is connected with 11 KV power line. No casualties have been reported in this explosion.
