The project of cutting mountains to build the underground tunnel for the six lane highway is under for more than 8 months now. In the next phase, the 470 meter long tunnel will be dug by cutting the 58 meter wide hilly region, which is expected to take at least 15-20 days.
In the current phase, the left tunnel successfully went through both ends and is 390 meter long. The controlled detonation was executed at 12.30PM yesterday. Sweets were distributed amongst 250 laborers who were working on this project.
The project is estimated to be completed in 2015.
