That is perhaps the only way to describe Lionel Messi on a night when Argentina stood on the edge of elimination.

Every touch carried the weight of a nation's hopes. Every missed opportunity invited fresh criticism. Every passing minute pushed Argentina closer to a heartbreaking World Cup exit.

The shot that rattles the crossbar—that is your goal. The pass that changes the game—that is your legacy. Because if you stop running, the critics are ready. They wait like hyenas, eager to tear apart everything you have built. They are prepared to question your greatness, to say you were never worthy of the pedestal on which football placed you.
