A free drinking water stand supervised by Lions Club Udaipur was forcibly closed by city’s Municipal Councilor after receiving complains of the water being highly contaminated.

Area councilor Ajay Porwal received complaints by people about the ill condition of water counter (pyau). He immediately closed the counter after inspecting the place and seeing its terrible condition.

From last many years, a water counter located near the bus stand at chetak circle was given to Lions Club by city’s Municipal Council. The club supervised the water counter for sometime but soon they rented the attached shop near the counter and left their so called social-work.

In today’s inspection by area councilor, the attached shop was also taken under corporation’s control.

Being one of the busiest places near bus stand at Chetak Circle it was a high risk of being infected by drinking such unhygienic water.

There are several such counters being placed in the city to offer free drinking water for public, most of these counters are either being placed or controlled by social service organizations or NGOs.

Today municipal council’s officers including Archana Sharma from department of Revenue and Council’s officer Mannalal Samar reached the spot to conduct inspection. The only thing is left to know is, that how much monetary gain did Lions Club got in this whole contaminated chapter.
