Lions to arrive in Udaipur from Gujarat...
A team from the forest department in Udaipur has reached the Sakkarbaug Zoological Park in Junagadh, Gujarat, to bring back a pair of lions.
Initially, the lions were supposed to be kept in the enclosure at Gulab Bagh. However, due to continuous rain and humidity, the department has decided to house them at Sajjangarh Biological Park instead.
The enclosure at Gulab Bagh has been closed since 2015. Despite cleaning efforts, there is still a risk of rainwater accumulating there. Therefore, Sajjangarh Biological Park was chosen as the safer option.
The lions will be transported to the Bio Park in a vehicle from Gujarat. A team of specialists and other staff will accompany them. They will stay in Udaipur for 4-5 days to closely monitor the health and behavior of the lions.
In exchange for the lions, Sajjangarh Biological Park has handed over two pairs of foxes, one pair of hyenas, two pairs of jackals, one pair of wildcats, and two chinkaras under the animal exchange program.
