Polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan commenced today, covering 12 out of the total 25 seats in the state. Starting at 7:00 am, voters in Churu, Nagaur, Ganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, and Dausa constituencies have begun casting their votes. The polling will continue till 6:00 pm.
With over 25.4 million eligible voters participating in this round, the electoral process witnesses a significant turnout. A total of 114 candidates are vying for victory across the 12 constituencies, highlighting the diversity of choices available to the electorate.
In preparation for the polls, authorities have set up approximately 23,000 polling booths across the region. To ensure the smooth conduct of elections and maintain law and order, around 75,000 policemen have been deployed, as confirmed by ADG Law and Order Vishal Bansal.
