42nd Annual Awards Ceremony: Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation Announces Awardees

The award ceremony will be held at Manak Chowk Courtyard in the City Palace at Udaipur on Match 15, 2026

Udaipur, Feb 21, 2026: The 42nd Annual Investiture Ceremony of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation will take place on Sunday, March 15 2026 at the City Palace in Udaipur. The event will take place in the presence of the Chairman and Managing Trustee of the founcation, Dr Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar. This was informed by the convenor of the ceremony, Dr. Mayank Gupta.

Subsequent to the announcement of the names of the students who will be given the awards this year, the foundation has also declared the names of the recipients of the Colonel James Tod award, Haldi Ghati National award, Maharana Udai Singh award and the Panna Dhai award. Over the past 41 ceremonies, the foundatoin has honoured 4,972 distinguished personaliries and meritorious students from India and abroad for their exceptional performances and contributions to society and the global community. These honours reflect Mewar’s timeless values — knowledge, service, environmental stewardship, and humanitarian compassion — and aim to establish a lasting benchmark of inspiration for future generations.

Colonel James Tod International Award

This award was established in 1996. The award for 2026 will be conferred upon Dr. Molly Emma Aitken of the United States of America. Dr Molly is serving as Assistant Professor at the City University of New York and is a leading scholar of Indian miniature painting traditions, with specialisation in Mughal and Rajput court painting.

Haldi Ghati National Award

This award was established in 1982. The award for 2026 will be conferred upon eminent senior journalist Kamlesh Kishore Singh. Singh has been active in the Indian media for the last three decades and has held significant leadership roles with the India Today group, across all three platforms, i.e. print, television and digital.

Maharan Udai Singh Award

This award was established in 1996. The award for 2026 will be conferred upon Marimuthu Yoganathan, who is popularly known as "Tree Man of India". He has been an inspiration to hundreds of educational institutions across India in adopting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

Panna Dhai Award

The award was established in 1997. This years, the award will be collectively conferred upon the members of the Jet Airways flight 9W569 who were instrumental in managing a successful childbirth aboard their flight in 2017.
