Maharashtra Civic Poll Results: Mahayuti Leading
Mahayuti coalition, led by BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, is set for a big victory in Maharashtra civic body elections
Jan 16, 2026 - The Mahayuti coalition is headed for a big victory in the Maharashtra civic body elections as trends indicate at this hour. Counting is currently underway to elect 29 municipal corporators for the State’s new municipal corporations, including the cash-rich important Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Current trends in the BMC show that of the 227 wards in the BMC, the BJP-led Mahayuti is leading in 118 followed by the Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance which is leading in 83 wards. The Mahayuti coalition, which includes Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, was leading in Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nashik, Nagpur and Thane.
Meanwhile, apart from the Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance, the NCP factions are also faltering even as counting continues. Final results will be declared later today, Friday.
