Udaipur, September 26, 2024 - In a tragic incident reported from Sayra district, Udaipur, a 25-year-old man ended his life by ingesting poison allegedly because of a dispute with his elder brother. Prior to consuming the poison, he recorded a video on his mobile phone in which he has accused his brother, saying, "My brother has mistreated my wife. Now he will be responsible for settling all my debts and taking care of my children."

According to the police, this incident occurred on September 24, 2024. The man was found lying unconscious in the field by villagers who rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day. The body was released to the family after post mortem.

Sayra police station officer, Praveen Singh, identified the deceased as Bhagaram (25), son of Bhimaram Gameti. A case has been filed against his elder brother, Kaluram, under Section 306 for alleged abetment of suicide.

Preliminary investigations unveiled a conflict between the deceased and Kaluram regarding financial matters. Authorities are also probing into allegations of harassment.

Bhagaram was a resident of village Gundali, located within the jurisdiction of Sayra police station, under Gogunda Tehsil of Udaipur. He worked as a cook in Surat and had only returned to the village the day before he committed suicide.

Prior to his demise, Bhagaram recorded a video which he shared on social media. In the video, he explicitly blames his brother for his death. He says that Kaluram harassed his wife by sending her messages, etc., and when this matter came to light the village council imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him. Kaluram was directed to give him a part of that amount but refused to do so.

In the video, Bhagaram is seen saying that he wants his brother to pay up his (Bhagaram) debt of Rs 1.41 lakh which he owes to a creditor. Additionally, he wants his brother to repay the Rs 5,000 debt which Bhagaram owed the shop that supplies goods to his house apart from repaying Rs 5,000 loan of his Uncle’s son. After his demise Kaluram will be responsible for his children's expenses, Bhagaram is found saying in the video.
