Surajpol Police has detained Surai John Shantikumar, the 25 year old Manipuri boy for allegedly provoking his girlfriend Bindibala Samunaren ‘Reshma’ to commit suicide at a Hotel room in Udaipur on the night of May 1^st. Bindibala was declared dead after she was admitted to MB Hospital yesterday morning.

According to the police, Bindibala’s death was supposedly caused due to an overdose of pain killers. However, it is also alleged that the couple had a heated argument before the incident over Suraj’s addiction to painkillers, which Bindibala found objectionable and used to often dissuade him from continuing this habit.

Consequently, after the heated quarrel Bindibala, who was working at a 5-Star Hotel in Udaipur consumed the painkillers in a fit of anger, which consecutively proved fatal. Suraj and Bindibala were engaged and were supposed to be flying to Delhi, on their way to Imphal, Manipur where they were scheduled to get married.

Shantibala, mother of Bindibala reached Udaipur today to take her daughter’s body back to their native place for the final rites. The inconsolable mother told UT that Bindibala was the only support to her family, which included Bindibala, her mother and two younger siblings of the deceased.
