Udaipur, March 1, 2025 - The Education Department has issued a list of security guidelines for all schools to ensure a safe environment for students. This decision comes after a tragic incident in Bikaner, where three young girls lost their lives due to a collapsed concrete slab at a government school.
Schools can only use their buildings after receiving a safety certificate from local authorities. The premises must be free from inflammable and poisonous substances. There should be enough open space, proper ventilation, and good lighting.
Classrooms should be whitewashed regularly. Windows must be secure, and there should be no broken glass or loose fittings. Floors should be even and without cracks. The size of the main exit and classroom doors can be increased if needed.
All cooking and fire-related activities should be done at a safe distance from the main school building.
Chemicals and lab equipment should be kept in a designated place, away from students’ reach. Chemicals should be used only under expert supervision, and a first aid box should always be available in labs. Students should not go near wells or open water resources.
