To spread the word of environment protection, 48,400 plants will be plowed by scouts & guides as well as school students of Udaipur District on July 11, 2011 for the occasion of World Population Day. The participating schools run will either be government, private or nodal schools. This state level event, which has been named Go Green, will take place under the direction of the Rajasthan State Bharat Scout and Guide which is headquartered in Jaipur. In Rajasthan, 11 lakh plants will be plowed in all districts on the same day and time, making it one of the largest plantations ever conducted in the state. Bharat Scouts and Guides Udaipur branch in association of Forest Department Udaipur, Education Department, Mahavir International club and district administration will also be equally involved in order to make this event successful. In total, 537 government schools, 64 private schools and 450 elementary nodal schools will be participating in Udaipur district. Every student or a common citizen will each plow two plants and will pledge to take care of them in the future. The CO, Scout Surendra Pandey said “This state level event will witness mass plantation on the day dedicated to World Population Day. We intend not only to spread the message of Go Green, but also adhered to spread awareness among the masses, especially students to take part in this noble cause. Also, after planting we will have every planter promise to take care of their plant forever,” said the CO, Scout. The forest department of Rajasthan has taken the responsibility of arranging 11 lakh plants which they will dispense free of cost to all listed schools and other organizations till 11 July. The event will start at 11 am from the Scout and Guide Office Udaipur located at Udainvias which is approximately 11 km from Udaipur.
