UDAIPUR,25.08.23- The scheduled Mass Protest by Tribals  got cancelled today.

The leaders of the Tribal Community of Banswara had announced a mass protest on 25th August , demanding proportionate reservation (70.4%) . However it got cancelled after the administration had imposed section 144 Crpc subsequent to  arrest of the leaders hours before the event.

The leaders of the community had announced the protest on 21st August to be held somewhere on the National Highway 56 near Basnwara district.   

Talking about the incident the Abhijeet Singh Sp Banswara said " The tribal leader Professor Kamal Kant Katara on 21st August announced that he will stage a mass protest on the National Highway 56 and will block the highway on Friday.The police was on an alert since last three days seeing the Kankri Doongri incident occurred in September 2020.The administration and police both were trying to convince the tribals people since last 5 days and the officials are having discussions with the Sarpanchs of Gadi village, Sajjangarh,Kalindra,Kushalgarh and Kasarwari and all of them are requested not take any action against law and also not to block the National Highway 56 as the people including the truck drivers, bus drivers, school students, college students that are using the highway in their day to day life will get affected.Due to the continuous efforts of the officials the National Highway 56 is still open and is not blocked by the tribal people on Friday. Moreover a heavy police force has been deployed in the area since Thursday night. This includes the police teams from Pratapgarh,Dungarpur,Dahot and Udaipur. Apart from that road barricading is going at various places of Banswara and Udaipur districts".

 Singh also assured that the traffic at National Highway 56 is completely normal someone had surfaced an old video on social media of the Kankri Doongri incident that took place three years back just to mislead people. The police has confirmed on the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that this video is fake. He added that the atmosphere is safe the National High is free for the movement of the people and the police is always there for the safety of the people.

Notably more than 170 tribal people were detained by the police on Thursday night and section 144 CrPc has also been imposed in the area.

A similar incident had taken place in September 2020 at Dungarpur and Kherwara districts near Kankri Doongri hills where the tribals created rukus over their demands , they torched tens of police vehicles and also pelted stones on the police teams however the peace resorted after three days of continious voilence.
