The ENT department of MB Hospital is soon going to start hearing test check up for which the machine worth Rs. 8 Lacs will be installed at the premises. The financial bid has commenced after which the machine will be placed in the hospital in February.

This kind of test used to happen 6 years back in the hospital. The department had hearing test machine, the developers of which stopped manufacturing and in turn the machine could not be serviced.

The hearing test is practically done on kids, including new born as they are unable to complain about the problem. Through the test, the range of hearing impairment can be accessed through which required treatment is followed.

The Brain Stem Evoked Response Eudiometry Test machine does the work for kids. HOD of ENT Department Dr. H.S Bhui said that this test is similar to ECG. In this, the electrode is put on the scalp instead of chest to ascertain the disability.
