Students of Meera Girls College have demanded to install the monument of Meera Bai at the college’s campus. Three of the students started hunger strike out the campus to fulfill their demands.

According to Anjali Bhanat, President student union, “The matter was under consideration and Municipal Corporation had promised to install the monument in 2013. Principal Dr. Savita Joshi said that the order should come from Office of Directorate, Jaipur.”

Joshi said, “We have reached Directorate office several times but haven’t received any orders yet. However students have decided to continue protest till no positive response is assured to them.”

A memorandum for the same was given to the district collector on 28^th Jan which states that the monument which was to be installed at college is set up at Tiger Hills.

Dr. Savita Joshi sent a letter to the higher administration today about the hunger strike and appealed to resolve the matter immediately.

UPDATE: Administration agreed to the demands made by students and will soon install statue of Meera Bai at the college campus.
