Mega Highway Project connecting Udaipur to start soon

GMR Infrastructure won the contract of 555 km long Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad Highway, the first mega highway project of the country through international competitive bidding and the estimated investment of the project is around Rs. 5,387 crore.

This highway section is part of Delhi – Mumbai golden quadrilateral and will also pass through Delhi – Mumbai industrial corridor.

The project will be implemented through the Public Private Partnership model on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer.

The company stated in a press release, “GMR Group has emerged as the selected bidder through international competitive bidding, for 555 km long six lane Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway, the first brownfield mega highway project of the country.”

Srinivas Bommidala, Business Chairman, GMR Urban Infrastructure & Highways said, “This successful bid is the culmination of a thorough study of the traffic and its growth potential which has been carried out by the company utilizing the cross-verification of estimates by our international team and an external team for 2 years.”

“There will be 8 toll plazas on this highway which has a very high growth potential for commercial and tourist traffic” the company says.

GMR Infra said the concession period is 26 years and the concession agreement will be signed soon.

The Bangalore based GMR Group has entered into highway business in 2011 and the group is highly interested in Airports, Energy and Urban Infrastructure too.
