#MeToo effect: Kailash Kher night cancelled in Udaipur

Considering fresh allegations that are pouring in against singer Kailash Kher of sexual misconduct, Udaipur Municipal Corporation has decided to stay out of the controversy and cancel Kailash Kher night planned on 30-Oct. Kailash Kher will now be replaced by singer Darshan Rawal.

Kailash Kher’s show was planned as part of the Diwali-Dusshera mela. Kailash Kher however has been at center of #MeToo campaign for some time with multiple women complaining of sexual harassment. Recently, singer Sona Mohapatra spilled beans on Kailash Kher’s inappropriate conduct.

Mohapatra tweeted the following on Kailash Kher, “I met Kailash for coffee in Prithvi Café to discuss a forthcoming concert where both our bands were playing & after the usual, a hand on my thigh with lines likes, your so beautiful, feel so good that a ‘musician got you’ (Ram) not an actor. I left not soon after

Considering the allegations against Kher, Udaipur Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari held meeting with Cultural Committee President Jagdish Menaria and other officials and decided to cancel the show. The event management committee has also been informed.

Kothari said, “We do not want the Diwali Dusshera fest to get embroiled in any controversy and hence have decided to cancel Kailash Kher’s show”.
