70 COVID cases were identified in 1564 sample reports received during the first half in Udaipur today.
This is seemingly the highest per day COVID hit on Udaipur at a time when the city is completely open for public and social distancing has gone for a toss. The only saving point is that public gatherings and marriages are still restricted and cinema halls are closed to public. The restricted timings 5AM - 9PM as well as the Sunday lockdown has not made even an iota of difference in the rise in the number of cases.
Of the 70 cases identified in the first half today, 80% are new cases. Till a couple of weeks ago, the Close Contact infection was taking the toll on the count, however, somewhere around 14 August the tables turned and news cases took the lead. Since 15 August, 58% are new cases.
Authorities are shutting down the Sahakari Bhandar for period of 48 hours to process sanitisation works. Those who have visited the Sahakari Bhandar at Shastri Circle in the last 10 days are advised to have themselves checked if they are experiencing any of the ILI symptoms, viz. fever, body pain, difficulty in breathing or dry cough.
