After 17 days of continuous protest against the state government and university administration, the pensioners reached at collector’s office today and demanded fair dealing regarding their pending pensions.
The group led by the joint association of Pensioners, Teachers and Non Teaching staff of MLSU marched to the collectorate in a form of a procession and handed over a memorandum in the name of Chief Minister to the administrative officer.
According to the memorandum, the pensioners expressed their concern that since 1990, State Government has granted pensions to all the employees of Government run universities. This process was persistent till Sept 2013.
Four months ago the State Government who was responsible for giving pension to the employees, put the task on University. As university has no income source except students fees, they are unable to bear the expense of pensions of around 500 employees.
