Udaipur, January 9, 2025 - A major drama unfolded this morning at Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) as employees staged a strong protest outside the office of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Sunita Mishra. Around 150 permanent employees also joined the agitation of the 327 contractual non-teaching staff who have been protesting since yesterday. Today, both groups went on strike and held demonstrations.

The issue arose when the 327 contractual employees, who had been promised an extension of service, did not receive the written order for the extension. During today's protest inside the administrative building, the protestors became agitated on seeing the VC who had just then arrived. They tried to talk to her but she went straight to her office. The employees blocked her entry, leading to a tense situation. After a prolonged standoff, the police helped control the situation and escorted the VC into her office.

The employees continued their agitation outside her chamber, threatening to remain there until their demands were addressed.
