Aadhaar App Now Allows Mobile No. Update From Home
Users will soon be able to change their address, name, and email ID in Aadhaar from home as UIDAI introduces secure digital verification through OTP and face authentication
Dec 4, 2025 - The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a major update to the Aadhaar app, allowing users to update the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, the option to update address, name, and email ID will also be launched soon.
According to UIDAI, the new feature for updating the registered mobile number is secured with digital verification. It follows a two-step process: first, OTP verification, and then face authentication through the Aadhaar app. Earlier, people had to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update mobile numbers and other details. With the new features, updates can be completed within minutes and will not require waiting in queues at centres.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Log in: Enter your Aadhaar number and log in with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Select update: Choose to update your Aadhaar and select "Mobile Number".
- Enter new number: Type in your new mobile number and submit.
- Verify: You will receive an OTP on your new mobile number for verification.
- Face authentication: Perform face authentication as prompted.
- Pay: Pay the service fee of Rs 50 online.
- Track: After submission, you will receive an Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of your update.
