Claims his own party is conspiring against him

Supported by over 100 BJP MLAs

It does not take time.  When internal issues in a political party or for that matter any social, political or corporate organization get out of hand, those affected choose to protest. Whether they are on the right or wrong side, becomes a matter to be taken care of later.

Such a revolt was observed in the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh today.

The MLA who led the revolt was Nand Kishor Gurjar, a BJP MLA from Loni.  Gurjar was not allowed to speak in the UP Assembly when he rose to give his explanation in the case of assault registered against him.  He also complained of harassment in the matter.

He was asked to abstain from making his points by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, who told him to sit down. Gurjar began his statement by saying that he was being harassed by his own government, causing embarrassment to his co-party MLAs in the assembly.  This was when he was asked to sit down.

Gurjar, in protest proceed to sit on a dharna immediately after he was rebuked even by the Speaker, Hriday Narayan Dikshit.  100s of MLAs from his party joined him.

Speaking to media, Gujjar said that during the Zero Hour period, he wanted to narrate the police atrocities against him, but his own party member and Minister, Suresh Khannas instructed him to sit down.

When Gurjar was asked to sit down, MLAs from Samajwadi Party immediately came to his rescue. They demanded of the Speaker of the Assembly that he be allowed to speak.

Ram Govind Chaudhary, leader of the Opposition in the UP Assembly said that it was Gurjar’s right to speak in the assembly and announced support for the BJP MLA. Inspite of this, the speaker did not allow him to speak.

This was followed by MLAs from Samajwadi Party entering the well of the house, shouting slogans against the BJP government.  A few altercations and arguments were observed and noisy scenes followed. Some MLAs were seen convincing Gurjar to abstain from raising such issues in the Assembly.

Subsequent to the Dharna, Speaker Hriday Narain Dixit assured the angry MLA that he will listen to him separately in the chamber.

Who is Loni BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar

This MLA from the BJP has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. His altercations with election officers, his minor son being party to a road accident, his representative arrested for violating traffic rules and misbehaving with cops, followed by slapping a security officer in November, led the BJP to issue him a show cause notice.

Nand Kishore followed it up by writing a letter to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that he was being harassed and that there was a conspiracy in the party to eliminate him.
