Revised KYC (Know Your Customer) rules the Ministry of Petroleum for the domestic gas cylinder is turning out to be a pain for both households as well as Gas agency owners in Udaipur, as no one has any clarity on the matter.

On one hand, individuals are worried for cancellation of supply, while on the other hand, agency owners have to handle huge crowd at their offices for enquiries and complying formalities.

Indian Petroleum Ministry with a view to stop black-marketing of domestic cylinders introduced a KYC procedure, in which every household and commercial units using gas cylinder have to fill a form with their respective distributer.

As per information, these KYC form is compulsory for all, where after, those with more than one gas connection will have to surrender their connections and continue with one, however there is an option of having more than one in case of different household.

Those with more than one connection have to submit duly filled KYC forms before 15th November, otherwise they will be black-listed and the connection might be discontinued. Whereas, for others with single connection, the date for submission of KYC is open till 31st March 2013.

“We have just received instruction for filling KYCs of those with more than one connection, whereas no other circular is issued by the Central Government”, said Vikas Kumar Rayat, Manager, Mewar Jawa Gas Agency (HP).

Capt. S. M. Dutta, Owner of Shiv Shakti Gas (Indane), said, “Incomplete information have been provided by the authority, as a result confusion is prevailing among the users”.

The whole exercise is in line with the program of Central Government, wherein subsidy will be introduced for the users, which is divided into four broad categories viz. Non-subsidized (14.2Kg), Subsidized (14.2Kg), Exemption category (14.2Kg) and Commercial (19Kg).

According to The Hindu Newspaper, The rule will be in affect from 1st of April 2013, thereafter Non-subsidized cylinders will be available in Rs. 890/ Cylinder, while subsidized would be charged Rs. 390/ Cylinder, same is for exempted category – charitable institution would be around 1000Rs/ Cylinder and commercial users have to pay 1500Rs/ Cylinder (19KG).
