The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) has transferred the responsibility of cleaning all four zones to the Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation will now handle door-to-door garbage collection and road cleaning in Zone-1 (Titardi and Gokul Village) and Zone-2 (Pratapnagar and Bedwas areas).
Work orders will be issued soon after the tender process. This time, the Municipal Corporation will also clean roads and drains in these areas, with contract personnel required to register attendance through biometric machines to ensure compliance.
Previously, the Municipal Corporation started with Rs 4 crores for garbage collection in the first two zones. They later requested Rs 12 crores annually to cover all four zones, leading the UDA to issue tenders for Zone-3 and Zone-4. The results were unsatisfactory, prompting the decision to give all zones back to the Municipal Corporation.
UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain noted that Zone-1 has about 6,000 houses, and Zone-2 serves around 10,000 people. Zone-3 and Zone-4 will benefit 19,992 and 5,460 people, respectively. Tenders for these zones may be issued by August 30, creating jobs for over 400 people.
A meeting chaired by District Collector Arvind Poswal on Tuesday discussed addressing cleaning deficiencies in UDA zones. The Municipal Corporation has completed the tender process for Zone-1 and Zone-2, with work orders expected shortly. The process for Zone-3 and Zone-4 will follow.
District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal emphasized the need for responsible completion of cleaning work before August 15, 2024 and improvements around the city before upcoming festivals. He instructed repairs to non-functioning fountains, damaged roads, and footpaths, and called for enhanced decorations and lighting. The Collector also advocated for developing new parks and ensuring thorough monitoring by UDA and Municipal Corporation officials.
