Udaipur’s Suron ki Mandali organisation has submitted proposal for music museum to District Collector; says it will help preserve the musical heritage of the region and also promote tourism
Udaipur, February 6, 2025 - The Suron ki Mandali organisation, led by founder Mukesh Madhwani, has submitted a proposal to District Collector Namit Mehta for the establishment of a music museum in Udaipur. The members said that they believe that a music museum in Udaipur would not only help preserve the musical heritage of the region but also promote tourism.
Suron ki Mandali said that the State Government had sought suggestions from various sectors for the upcoming State Budget. As part of this, the organisation has presented a proposal to the Chief Minister for a music museum in Udaipur.
The proposal highlights Udaipur’s identity as not being limited to lakes and palaces but also as a heritage of music and art. Folk artists and musical traditions of the region are renowned throughout the country but have no special place to preserve and showcase this art.
The organisation’s suggestions for a music museum include an exhibition of traditional and modern instruments, a music library and research centre with rare books, recordings and digital archives. Also proposed are workshops and live performances.
