A meeting led by Professor Bhavanishankar Garg, Chancellor, Janardhan Rai Nagar Vidyapeeth (Deemed) University was conducted today where the Rajasthan Vidhyapeeth Employee Union, Teachers Association and Student leaders were called for an in-depth discussion of the on-going protest by the Employee and Student Union.

In the meeting, Subhash Bohra, President, Employee Union and Hemshankar Dadheech, General Secretary, laid the following demands on the table:

· Sack Praful Naagar, Chief Administrator and Bhanwarlal Gurjar, Association Secretary.

· Initiate an enquiry for the dismissed land at Vijay Singh Pathik Shramjivi College, Ajmer.

· Clarity and resolution on the issue of cancellation of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Engineering College at Udaipur.

Chancellor, Prof. Garg assured everyone present that he is currently acting as a Chancellor with all the relevant responsibilities in his hands. “I just arrived last evening and will be looking in the matter”, says Prof. Garg.

The Employees and Student leaders were adamant on their demands and refused to withdraw the protest until their demands were met.

On the other hand, Praful Naagar officially opened the Administrative office (Kul Karyalay) of JRNVU today. Talking to the media he assured that the office would be working per the usual protocols from this day onwards.

“Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Kul is a registered Association and thus the Administrative Office (Kul Karyalaya) is a different legal entity, separate from the University. The Employee Union of the University demanding the sacking of Administrative personnel of the Association have no legal ground”, said Praful Naagar.

He added, “As per protocol (in the Vidhyapeeth Kul Constitution), the Chief Administrator (Kul Pramukh) has to act as a Chancellor if the same post has no official. But during the period the election for the position should be done, else the Advisory Board can also appoint a temporary Chancellor for the 6 month period”, he added while he pointed out the Laws and Amendments of Vidhyapeeth Kul Constitution to the media.

On the question of, who is the present Chancellor, he replied quoting the Vidhyapeeth Kul Constitution, “Constitutionally I am the Chancellor till the new one is elected and appointed but Professor Garg is portraying as he is.”

For the record, the employees have been on strike ever since the recent issue of Praful Naagar allegedly seizing the JRNVU Chancellor’s office. The personnel on strike say that Praful Nagar has brought disgrace to the University’s name and demand that he should be dismissed from the position.
