Major Labor Unions including INTUC, CITU, ATUC, HMS and others have called for a Nation Wide Strike on 28^th February 2012. “The strike is to protest against the Economic and Labour Policies of the government that are repelling the rights of Laborers and also giving rise to already inflating economy,” informed Jagdish Raj Shrimali of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress).

He also added that, the government is acting in a way that the big business houses are receiving partial benefits whereas the poor are sinking low.

The Union Trade Chiefs demands include that the investments in Foreign Trade should be stopped; the money in scams should be retained from scammers and should be brought into social welfare use; Industrial Dispute Section 1947 Trade Union Act should not be changed; Hire and Fire pattern should be stopped.

This strike is the result of unresponsive attitude of government towards the demands that were brought to the notice of the government again and again by Trade Unions. So the 11 Central Labor Unions have flagged this Industrial strike and protest for the 10 demands.
