Heartless or helpless?? What term should be given to the mother who abandoned a 10 day old girl child?

Once again a girl child has been found abandoned by the parents. This 10 day old girl child was found in Chitrakoot Nagar on the steps of Mahesh Ashram, the well known cradle for saving the lives of abandoned babies, especially girls.

The child was spotted by a youth walking past Mahesh Ashram. He heard the neonate crying and rushed to take care of her to protect her from being attacked by stray dogs. As per the youth, had he been a little late the child would have been attacked by dogs. The little girl was probably left by her mother on Sunday night on the steps of this ashram. She was wrapped in a piece of cloth. The youth saw some stray dogs just a few metres away and saved the girl in time.

He carried the baby inside the ashram but the keeper inside the ashram refused to let him in mentioning closing hours. He called up Sukher police station but no one picked up the phone. He then informed Superintendent of Child Welfare Committee and it was then that the child was taken into the child care home after medical examinations.
