BLOs Struggle as Network Issues Slow Down SIR in Udaipur

New settlements in urban–rural Udaipur pose challenges in locating 2002 voter records
 |

Udaipur, Nov 21, 2025 - During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Udaipur district, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are struggling with network problems in remote and hilly areas. Owing to the lack of mobile network in many locations, the digitisation process is progressing slowly. BLOs are having to climb hills to obtain network signals and upload information.

In the urban and rural Assembly constituencies of Udaipur, newly developed colonies are facing the most difficulties. According to BLOs, when they reach scattered houses, many voters cannot even tell them which polling station had their or their family members’ names in the 2002 electoral roll. BLOs then ask families for the polling station details so they can search names and complete digitisation.

In Lasadiya subdivision of Salumbar district, out of 69,888 voters, digitisation for 30,417 has been completed so far. But the non-functioning digitisation app and lack of network remain major challenges. In many locations, BLOs have to travel far from households to distribute and collect enumeration forms.

Network issues are severe in villages like Dhar, Mayda, Kalakhet, Khokhariya, Valiya Kheda, Kunda and Rameena. Many of these villages are located near the Sitamata Sanctuary, and being tribal-dominated regions, they face significant geographical challenges.

Sub-divisional Officer Suresh Kumar, Tehsildar Ramji Lal Gurjar and other block-level officials are conducting continuous inspections. The Tehsildar reviewed network issues and work progress with BLOs.

During the SIR in Salumbar district, more than 1,49,000 enumeration forms have been uploaded so far. Of a total of 3,00,064 voters in the district, 99.57 percent have received enumeration forms through door-to-door delivery. As per the data received till 4:00 pm on Wednesday, the digitisation of 1,49,750 voters’ enumeration forms has been completed.

The process of filling online enumeration forms has now been made easier. If a voter or their parents or grandparents had their names listed in the 2002 SIR voter roll, they can fill the form online. For this, the name of the constituency, part number and serial number from the 2002 voter list are required.

The district administration has issued a url for locating names in the 2002 voter list for all Assembly constituencies in Udaipur district. Through this, voters can search their entries in the 2002 list using their old EPIC number, name or father’s name.
