Udaipur, January 18, 2025 - Work has started to reduce the number of accidents at a problematic cut near Bheelon Ka Bedla on the Udaipur-Pindwara Highway. The cut, which provides access to Pacific Hospital, is located just beyond a curve, causing drivers to travel in the wrong direction for a short distance and leading to frequent accidents.
The Udaipur-Pindwara Highway is a busy route, with 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles passing daily. Proper planning and management are essential to ensure the safety of commuters.
The existing cut is being closed, and a new one is under construction. The width of the new cut will be 30 meters. This improvement aims to make the highway safer for commuters by providing a well-planned and wider access point.
To ensure safety, speed breakers and signal lights will be installed at the new cut. These additions will help alert drivers and reduce the risk of accidents. Furthermore, signboards will be placed to guide vehicles entering the city.
A series of accidents occurred near the cut at Malwa ka Chora village on January 3, 4, and 5, resulting in 7 deaths and 22 injuries. These incidents highlighted the need for immediate action. After these accidents, the width of the cut was increased from 5 meters to 15 meters, and space near the divider was left for vehicles to stop safely during lane changes. Signal lights were also installed to enhance visibility.
