The works of lake conservation which was going on under National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) will now be controlled by National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-systems (NPCA).

The works of lake conservation which was going on under National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) will now be controlled by National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-systems (NPCA).

Vinay Shankar, IAS (Retd.) and Former Secretary of Rural Development (GoI) held a joint meeting with officials of various government departments today at collectorate. Vinay Shankar also inspected lakes of the city and learned about the present status of conservation.

National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) and National Wetlands Conservation Program (NWCP) merged into a new scheme called the ‘National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-systems’ (NPCA). Indian Institute of Technology is appointed to set the guidelines of the agenda.

Vinay Shankar briefed the officials with various points and discussed on the conservation, beautification and development of water bodies in Udaipur. He also took note of the suggestions given by officials and members of NLCP committee.

Anil Mehta of the committee informed Vinay Shankar regarding the alleged illegal activities including encroachments, mining etc. going around lakes and appealed Vinay Shankar to take appropriate actions.

Vinay Shankar took the feedback of all concerned authority officials on the work conducted under their supervision.

Officials of NLCP, Forest, UIT, Municipal Corporation, Agriculture, Public Construction, Irrigation and Industrial development were present in the meeting.
