June 10, 2025 - West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran has taken a shocking decision to retire from all three formats of international cricket. His announcement comes just days after South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen also retired from international cricket. Both Pooran and Klaasen are known as two of the best players in T20 cricket. Their sudden retirements have surprised fans around the world. However, Pooran will continue to play franchise cricket.
Pooran made this big announcement on June 9, through an Instagram post. Pooran is just 29 years old.
He wrote, “After thinking a lot, I have decided to retire from international cricket. This game has given me so much - joy, purpose, memories and the chance to play for West Indies. Wearing the maroon jersey and singing the national anthem was always special for me. Being the captain was a big honour, and I will always remember it.”
“Thank you to the fans for always supporting me, even in tough times. You celebrated my good moments with happiness. I also want to thank my family, friends and teammates for being with me. Your support helped me a lot.”

In IPL 2025, Nicholas Pooran played for Lucknow Super Giants. He did very well and scored 524 runs in 14 matches, including five half-centuries. Overall in IPL, he has played 90 matches and scored 2,293 runs.
