Expectations and Hopes flow with the state budget announced today. Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot has rewarded Udaipur with Rajiv Gandhi Tribal University and declared Rs.20 Crore for the same and it could be considered as the only major development for the lake city in this budget.

To notice some more important announcements, there is a proposal to make Badgaon, a new Tehsil of Udaipur District whereas a B.Ed College will open at Kherwada and Rs.5 Crore have been sanctioned for Tribal Sports Academy in Udaipur.

The state budget 2012 is of mix response, the most disappointing is Udaipur has been deprived from B-2 category which thrashes all hopes of the commoners.

The opposition has condemned the budget and phrased it as a list of fake projects and plans. Kiran Maheshwari, National Chief Secretary of BJP said that the entire Mewar region has been neglected of any development. In a press release Kiran has denounced the budget and said, “It is a zero, it does not satisfy common masses at all; this budget is a replica of the last three year’s incomplete announcements.”

On the other side, the budget includes free Medical in Veterinary Hospitals, Mining Roads to be built on the BOT model specifications in Udaipur, Jodhpur, Dungarpur, Nagaur and Bhilwara.

The students from minority section studying in institutes like IIT would get House Rental of Rs. 1000 per month.

For security, CCTV cameras to be installed in sensitive areas all over the state and Old Age Homes to be built in Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota and Bharatpur.

To feel bit relieved, VAT on petrol has been reduced from 28% to 26%, no Entertainment Tax on activities falling under Entertainment sector and No tax on Waste paper is good news.

However, VAT on Pan Masala, Tobacco and tobacco products have been increased from 40% to 50% in the budget provisions.
