The rules are in accompaniment with the rules of NHAI as per which no toll plaza can make a motorist wait for more than 3 minutes.
If the waiting period exceeds 3 minutes, no toll will be deducted.
While you are waiting at the toll plaza for the payment, if the wait goes beyond 3 minutes and if the queue is more than 100 metres long, you will not be required to pay toll tax. This rule is in accompaniment with the rules of National Highway Authority of India.
As per the rule, no toll plaza can make you wait for more than 3 minutes and if the traffic goes beyond the yellow line, which will be drawn at toll collection points, tax amount would not be deducted from the vehicle owner.
Responding to the Right to Information Act, NHAI had said a few years back that there is a provision of passing the vehicle free of cost if the waiting time exceeds 3 minutes.
In February the Ministry of Road Transport had made FASTag mandatory for all vehicles. Any vehicle passing the toll plaza without FASTag would be required to pay double the tax.
