June 18, 2025 - Saudi Arabia has announced a new rule for obtaining an Umrah visa. Foreign pilgrims must have confirmed accommodation reservations made via the official Nusuk Masar website in order to be granted Umrah visas. Furthermore, only hotels licensed by the Ministry of Tourism will be accepted for reservations, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced via X.

Every contract needs to be approved on the Nusuk Masar platform after being submitted electronically.

As per this new directive, no Umrah visa will be given to those pilgrims not complying with the above rule. This decision was taken by the Ministry to cut down on overbooking and fraud and to improve the standards of accommodation

All foreign pilgrims are subject to the new regulation, which went into effect on June 10, 2025 (14 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH).

“The new decision aims to enhance the professionalism of service delivery, improve the experience for both visitors and Umrah performers, and guarantee that pilgrims stay in licensed, compliant facilities,” the Ministry said.
