Neville Tata and Bhaskar Bhatt appointed trustees of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust for three-year term from November 12

Nov 12, 2025 - Neville Tata, son of Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata, has been appointed as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. Senior official Bhaskar Bhatt, who headed Titan Company, and Venu Srinivasan, chairman of TVS Motor Company, have also been appointed as trustees. Srinivasan will additionally be taking on vice-chairman duties for the next three years.

The appointments are for a three-year term starting from November 12. The decision was taken unanimously in a Board meeting.

Sir Dorabji Tata Trust is the largest shareholder in Tata Sons, holding a 27.98% stake.

Neville (32) is the business head of Trent Hypermarket and already a trustee on several Tata Trusts boards. His appointment marks a generational shift and is also seen as a sign of strengthening Noel Tata’s control over the family trusts, which together hold 66% stake in Tata Sons.

The decision comes at a time when the recent dispute regarding Mehli Mistry has been resolved after he was removed from key Trust positions without getting into a legal tussle saying that “precipitating matters would cause irreparable harm to the reputation of the Tata Trusts”.
