Old Vehicles to Be Seized in Delhi and NCR from Nov. 1
Ban applies to Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Sonipat; vehicles older than 15 years (petrol) and 10 years (diesel) to be seized
July 9, 2025 - Starting November 1, old vehicles will be seized not only in Delhi but also in five NCR districts - Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat. This decision was taken in a meeting of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on July 8 which included representatives of all NCR districts.
CAQM had earlier earmarked July 1, 2025, as the start date for ban of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) in Delhi which included denial of fuel for these vehicles. But, this measure was rollback temporarily with restrictions coming in from November 1 and applying not only to Delhi but to NCR districts.
“Old” vehicles will be those petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years. Additionally, as per the rule initiated, these vehicles will also not be provided with petrol or diesel fuel at petrol stations.
The Delhi government hopes to reduce pollution levels in Delhi and NCR regions with this ban by curbing vehicular emissions as winter approaches.
